Hilton Head Island is located along the southeastern coast of South Carolina.
We are located just 35 miles from Savannah, Georgia. There are numerous ways to get to our Island. You can drive, you can fly commercial or in your own plane, you can come by rail, by bus, or even on your private yacht via the Intra-Coastal Waterway.
IF YOU COME BY CAR:
Coming from the North, you’ll be on I-95 heading South. If you are driving from the South, you’ll be on I-95 heading North. Get off I-95 at Exit 8 (Hardeeville) and take Route 278 East straight to the Island. Along the way you’ll pass by Sun City Hilton Head and the Town of Bluffton until you travel over the bridges onto Hilton Head Island. It is about 30 minutes from the I-95 turnoff to the bridge onto the Island.
IF YOU COME BY PLANE:
If you are planning to fly to Hilton Head Island, you can either fly straight to the Island or you can fly to the Savannah-Hilton Head Airport. It is exactly 1 hour driving time from Savannah to the center of the Island. You would follow the driving directions listed above as you will be on I-95 heading North when you leave the airport. You can get a rental car, taxi, or limo at the airport.
If you take a commercial flight to the Hilton Head Island Airport, you can connect at Charlotte. There are also several flights daily to the Island on Delta Airlines from Atlanta. You can get a rental car, taxi, or limo at the airport.
IF YOU COME BY TRAIN OR BUS:
There is Amtrak and commercial Bus service serving Savannah, Georgia.
IF YOU COME BY WATER:
If you have a boat, you can get to Hilton Head Island either from the Ocean or the Intra-Coastal Waterway. We have numerous Marina’s for your boating convenience.
IF YOU COME FROM CHARLESTON, SC:
Another approach is to arrive at Charleston, SC. Charleston is 110 miles North and it is a 2 plus hour drive South down Route 17 South & I-95 to Exit 8 in South Carolina to Hilton Head Island.
IF YOU COME FROM JACKSONVILLE, FL:
A final approach is to arrive at Jacksonville, FL. Jacksonville is 160 miles South and it is a 2 1/2 hour drive North on I-95 to Exit 8 in South Carolina to the Island.
