2. Hilton Head Outfitters:
Hilton Head Outfitters & Bike Rentals offers everything you need for a day at the beach, including all terrain beach wheelchair rentals to allow for easy access to the beach for those who are handicapped or disabled. The wide tires make it very easy to maneuver in the sand and gravel versus standard wheelchair tires.
3. Burkes Pharmacy:
The team at Burkes consists of certified professionals who are experts in their fields and maintain the highest standards of care and accreditation. Burke’s Pharmacy in Main Street Village has beach wheelchairs for rent on a weekly basis for folks wanted to get to the beach that cannot walk on their own.
These chairs have oversized yellow wheels to make traveling in the sand easier. However this does not make it effortless. Moving people in and out of the chair or over the soft requires some aid. Full chair specs can be found here.
4. Vacation Comfort Bike Rentals:
Offers manual wheelchairs that fold for easy transport. NOT BEACH ACCESSIBLE. FREE DELIVERY – FREE PICKUP.
5. Town of Hilton Head:
The Town of Hilton Head’s beach wheelchair program has four chairs available, two at Islanders Beach Park in Folly Field and the two at Coligny Beach Park. There is no cost for people with disabilities to use the beach. While wheelchair usage is free, the Town requires a credit card number for reservations. The card will not be charged unless there is damage to the chair or it’s not returned.
