Summertime is here and, once again.
Hilton Head Island’s population will swell as families arrive on the Island in search of the perfect family vacation.

As families consider the many alternatives before them—from helicopter rides and boat cruises to riding the bike paths that have made Hilton Head one of the top vacation destinations in the world—they now have one more option to add to the list: pickleball.
Pickleball is a sport popularized by seniors and retirees. No longer a silly-sounding game only “played by old people,” pickleball is a sport that extended families with children of all ages can play together. It’s easy to learn, fun to play and cheaper than many other family activities.
This summer, Palmetto Dunes Pickleball Center has introduced family clinics.
They teach parents and children between the ages of 7 and 13 the basic strokes, rules and strategies of the game. Our family clinics have a mandatory ratio of one adult per child, but for families with multiple children over the age of 10, exceptions can be made. Space in these programs is limited, so sign up early.
We’ve also added programs for juniors between the ages of 11 and 17. These clinics and round robins complement our adult clinics and adult round robins (for ages 16 and up). All round robins are pro-supervised. We structure play based on the skill level of the people attending.
Looking for a family activity that is fun to play and easy to learn? Pickleball is a sport that needs to be a part of this year’s vacation.
