What’s better than a festival full of all-American classics? At Hilton Head Island’s annual Burgers and Brews Fest, guests not only get to enjoy savory sliders prepared by local restaurants and sip some brews from regional breweries but do it while listening to live music and watching football. This fall fest is made complete with a kid-friendly bounce house area, so even kids can have a blast.
The daylong festival in Shelter Cove Community Park, which replaced the annual Cajun Fest, kicked off in 2012 and has since shown off what the chefs and brewers craft behind the scenes. Restaurants compete for the best burger, which is determined by the voting attendees.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted and given a small souvenir glass after paying the $6 admission. In addition to a Beer Garden with assortment of different craft brews, there are also restaurant stations to grab burger bites. Booths are set up all over the park with a variety of different sliders, made with everything from bacon, brioche buns and jalapenos to mac ‘n’ cheese. But beef bites aren’t the only type of burgers at this fest; BBQ, chicken, pork, turkey and even shrimp, lamb and bologna have shown up in some of the sliders.
Live bands take the stage every year and perform for audiences munching away and in past years, organizers have even set up big screen televisions so festival-goers don’t have to miss their favorite teams paying football.
The Burgers and Brews Fest is a festival organized by the Island Recreation Association. Children 10 and under get free admission to the festival.
