May 19 – June 19 (Reception – May 20 from 5 -7 PM): Art League Gallery presents Whispers from the Soul, a deeply personal exhibition by self-taught artist Theresa King. Through a collection of expressive paintings, King explores themes of healing, spirituality, and the natural world, inviting viewers into a sense of calm and reflection.

Inspired by a lifelong connection to nature, King’s work reflects a sense of joy, spirituality, and connection to healing energy. “I grew up in a chaotic atmosphere, and the only time I felt peace was [lying] on the ground looking up at the clouds in the sky,” she says. That early sense of quiet continues to influence her work, where clouds and movement appear as recurring elements. “Nature has always been my inspiration. I could sit and watch clouds for hours.”
King began exploring art in the 1980s, developing her practice through experimentation. King’s work is also shaped by significant life experiences, including her journey through cancer and years spent caring for multiple family members—part of a long road toward recognizing her own innate healing energy. During this period, she developed a personal approach to maintaining balance, acknowledging difficult emotions while intentionally focusing on what brought her happiness. Over time, she came to recognize this practice as a way of channeling that energy, which she now infuses into her work to share with others.
