It’s the question every visitor asks; Where do the locals eat?
The answers point to restaurants that offer an intimate, convenient, nostalgic and true Lowcountry food and flare. Below are just a few of our favorites.

Book Your Stay
The Sea Shack
The Sea Shack is a “made to order” kind of seafood restaurant. After placing your order at the register, you fill your own drinks. You can choose how you want your food (FRIED ? GRILLED? OR BLACKENEND?). Within a few minutes, your name will be called out and your meal is delivered to your table. They offer a kids’ or “GUPPIES.” They have indoor seating and 3 large picnic tables outside. The Sea Shack does take out orders over the phone. However during peak business hours, they ask you to come wait in line. Usually this only occurs during the summer at dinner time.

Harold’s Diner
Their motto is “Eat here or we both starve.” Located right on 278 at Singleton Beach, Harold’s has been a HHI icon for decades. Open for breakfast and lunch, Harold’s features a one-of-a-kind experience with a rowdy staff that insists on customers enjoy a little extra attitude with their meal. Read the rules upon entering and pay attention at all times. Above all else – enjoy the atmosphere of this little place that locals call “the best show on the Island.” And the food is pretty darn good as well.
