WitThere’s a BIG new addition to family at Lawton Stables, named Woody!
Woody is a four year old Clydesdale that was very generously donated by the owners of Woody’s Sunglass Shop in the Shelter Cove Towne Centre. He is settling in very well to island life. He already has a routine of meeting our visitors at the fence to get lots of pets and pose for pictures. Although he is still young and learning, he has an excellent demeanor and takes everything in stride.
“We are so grateful for the donation, we hope Woody continues to settle in and have a long happy life as part of the Lawton family,” says Haley Zimmerman, General Manager of Lawton Stables.
More about the stables:
Lawton Stables offers horseback riding and more. Their trail rides are a great way to get a true feeling for the Lowcountry in its natural setting. Guided rides meander through trails, forests and lakes in over 600 lush acres of the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Pony rides are available to children 7 and under. Their animal farm provides a wonderful collection of small animals to feed and enjoy. A gift store offers a large selection of horse-related gifts and treasures.
Back in March, the stable’s 17-year-old Clydesdale, Harley, died after gastrointestinal issues, known as colic.
With the loss of Harry, receiving Woody is even more of a special gift to visitors and staff.
