Golfers at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island can now improve their golf game with their smartphone.
The golf app from Palmetto Dunes gives tips on playing specific holes at their fingertips.
iPhone and Android both offer the Palmetto Dunes Golf App for free. The app lets golfers track their score digitally with live leaderboards. It provides GPS yardage markers. It also allows users to book tee times directly from their phone and share their score on Facebook.
The golf app also provides course information for the South Carolina resort’s three award-winning golf courses. It details each hole, including the famous par 5 oceanfront 10th hole on the Robert Trent Jones course. The app gives the par and handicap. It also informs players important tips, such as “avoid the lagoon with a straight tee shot.”
Golfers can access special offers from the resort’s pro shops and food and beverage information. Users can direct dial the restaurants to order while finishing a round. And it reminds them at the 9th tee. Palmetto Dunes also provides latest updates on its courses, such as weather, promotions or closings, in the News feature.
The app is available free in the iTunes store and Android market.
“All of our guests have gone increasingly mobile, and so we felt that developing a golf app would be a great addition to our popular Hilton Head golf courses,” says Brad Marra, director of sports operations for Palmetto Dunes. “Now our golfers can keep score, book tee times and take advantage of special offers via their phones, plus brag about their score on Facebook. We’ve already had a celebrity – Brian Baumgartner who plays Kevin in The Office – enjoy using the app during a recent celebrity golf tournament, and more than 500 golfers have downloaded the app and are actively using it since it went live a month ago. The response has been great. It’s just one more amenity, like our air-conditioned golf carts, that we offer for golfers.”
