St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church, located at 20 Pope Avenue on Hilton Head Island, has announced plans for Holy Week, including its annual community Sunrise Easter Service on the beach at Coligny Park. The community is invited to attend all of the events.
On Palm Sunday, March 29, the church will hold its regularly scheduled traditional worship service at 9 am and modern worship service at 11:09 am. March 30 – April 3, daily from 9 am – 4 pm, the church will display “Stations of the Cross,” a series of fourteen images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers This will be in the sanctuary of the church with participants walking through the images and prayers at their own pace. The display will also be available on the church website at www.standrewbytheseaumc.org for in-home viewing.
On Thursday, April 2 at 6 pm, St. Andrew will host a worship service with communion in the sanctuary. It will be in-person and live stream. The church will join with other area churches on Good Friday, April 3 at 12 Noon at Christ Lutheran Church in Hilton Head for the Community Worship Service. Also on April 3, the church will be showing the film, “The Passion of the Christ” in its Celebration Center at 20 Pope Avenue.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, St. Andrew By-The-Sea UMC will host three worship services, starting with the very popular 7 am Sunrise Service on the beach at Coligny Park. Celebrate the Resurrection as the sun rises at the edge of the ocean. The church will also have services in its sanctuary at 9 am and 11:09 am.
