Be sure to attend Saké To Me: Saké & Cheese Tasting at Rollers Wine & Spirits, Thur., Sep, 28, from 5-7 p.m.
We hope you’ll join us for an enlightening tasting experience where we will explore pairing saké with cheese. Although you might be thinking it’s an odd pairing, the experts preach otherwise, and after trying the combination out ourselves, we wholeheartedly agree and can’t wait to share this amazing pairing with you!
Why does saké pair so well with cheese? Well, just like the rule of thumb for pairing wine and food by serving “like with like”, we’re essentially doing the same thing here. Saké and cheese are a natural pairing because they both contain the same lactic acid. The lactic acid in saké creates a creamy, buttery taste and a yogurt-like nose. Thus, both aged cheeses and saké are high in umami and elevate the flavors in one another when enjoyed together.
