September 1-8: The Art League of Hilton Head hosts a much-loved and anticipated alternate artistic reality – Fabulous Fakes. The exhibit takes inspiration from famous artworks from all eras. Some parodies are replicas of famous paintings, often with a humorous or whimsical twist such as one in which a cat knocks over Van Gogh’s Irises, a Renoir nude shows her support for the Olympics and one of Degas’ ballerinas checks her iPad for the latest news while others are inspired by the techniques of the masters but have an entirely different subject matter, medium or color palette. All artworks are for sale in the Gallery. The Gallery is located inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina and is open Mon.-Sat., 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sun., 12-4 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to Art Center performances. 14 Shelter Cove Ln.
