| Listen, my child, and you shall hear
With a voice so tender and oh so near. I'll tell you a story about my past, your present, and future and of our sacred task. I came from no man nor was ever begun For with Father, and Son were always ONE. When darkness still covered the shapeless earth 'We' were the light about to give birth. The Father spoke the Son and His Word revealed And I hovered as a breath with power to seal. For there was nothing and Our Love Created From abyss and wasteland Our Presence was stated. The power of the God-head was offered to man To create and draw each person into God's plan. For centuries I've worked calling many by name To enter the kingdom and the Salvation game. Man was created to hear God's Word Yet, these words without power seem so absurd. My history's not complete without linking yours to mine For I called you "Our delight" and my, how you did shine. You knew in an instant of my Love just for you. You responded in Love for you knew it was true. You accepted salvation, yet wanted much more. Adventure, free worship, excitement galore. You asked me to be the center of your life Yet, never expected an earthly life with strife. I accepted your heart and mine was give in return For a long while your heart for my Words did burn. But, alas, earthly cares wrenched you from me So your ears could not hear, nor your blue eyes could see But now you've returned to my arms opened wide And I welcome you, now, to my heart...deep inside. I gather you to me with a gentle embrace And know of your desire to look upon my face And this I'll promise with a heart longing, too That you'll see, feel, and hear of my love just for you. Come, and commune with me often and I will show you my face In the people I send you to pour forth my grace.
