The University of South Carolina Beaufort Center for the Arts presents its Lunch with Author Series with Darren Wang. He will discuss his first novel, “The Hidden Light of Northern Fires,” which tells a story of redemption amidst a war that tore families and the country apart. Daren Wang was born in Buffalo, New York. In 1971, he is the founding Executive Director of AJC Decatur Book Festival, now in its twelfth year. As a public radio producer, he produced and or hosted several series including “The Spoken Word,” “Porches: The South and Her Writers,” “Circle of Friends,” “Between the Lines,” “ArtVoice,” and “Atlanta Forum.” His writing has appeared in Paste Magazine, Five Points Magazine, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, AJC Travel, The Saporta Report, and others. Already, Wang is receiving accolades for his work. “The Hidden Light of Northern Fires” is an Indie Next pick-chosen by the nationwide community of Independent sellers as one of the top titles of the month and A Summer Okra pick by Southern Independent Bookseller’s Association.
