6/28/09 Hi, I would like to
bring to your attention the situation at the Holiday Inn on
Hilton Head island. My son and his girlfriend came to visit us
this past week. We live in Sun City, Bluffton, SC. They said
that while here they thought it would be nice to stay somewhere
on Hilton head Island for a couple of days where they could
enjoy a closer look at Hilton Head. He saw the Holiday Inn on
the internet with it's Tiki Hut and thought it would be a nice
place to stay and made reservations for a couple of nights to
stay there. They charge you $10.00 per night for parking, which
is fine but here is where the problem comes into play. They
went to Harbortown to sight see and upon returning there were no
parking places for them. They asked at the desk and was told
that people come to drink at the Tiki Hut and take up all the
parking spots. My son said but I am a resident here and am
paying you $10.00 per night for my spot to park and these
vehicles on the lot are from people not staying at the Holiday
Inn and they are not paying to park here. My son was told that
maybe after the people who are just here to get a drink at the
Tiki Hut leave, some spaces will be available for you then.
They said there is nothing they can do about his parking
situation. Basically, my son had to leave and go elsewhere and
keep trying to find a spot at the Holiday Inn lot when one
opened up.
This is ridiculous and
something should be done about it. I would not recommend anyone
stay at the Holiday Inn because they can not move their
vehicle. Once they lose their parking spot, they will not be
able to return back to the Hotel unless they pay again at the
pay lot. I believe the Chamber of Commerce should be notified
about this situation also. Please do not suggest for anyone to
stay at the Holiday Inn, beach front hotel. They are giving the
island a bad name for tourist which Hilton Head depends upon to
survive, especially in these bad economy times. When you pay
for a parking spot, especially at $10.00 per night, you should
be able to park there anytime you need to!!!
I wanted to make sure
someone knows about this situation and hopefully would care
enough to do something about it. I know I am telling everyone
that I know to tell their friends definitely NOT stay at this
Holiday Inn.
Thank You, Richard L. Chaney Sr.
