Shelter Cove Community Park
On April 1, 2015 the new Shelter Cove Community Park officially opened along Broad Creek, right behind the Shelter Cove Towne Centre.
The new five-acre Shelter Cove Community Park offers locals and visitors alike a lively line-up of year-round festivals and events, planned by the Towne Centre, Island Recreation Center and the community.
The park not only features a playground with swings and slides, but also a performance pavilion, peaceful picnic spots, a public art display, restrooms, walking paths with plenty of places to sit down, as well as a board walk with breathtaking views of Broad Creek. And it’s all right across the street from the Towne Centre full of shops, boutiques and delectable places to dine out.
A special water fountain was designed just for the Shelter Cove Community Park welcomes guests at the entrance of the park, located near the intersection of Shelter Cove Lane and Towne Centre Drive.
There are even bike corrals to allow bicyclists easy access to the new park, which was completed through a public/private partnership between the Town of Hilton Head Island and the developers of Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Though Hilton Head Island has many parks, it’s at this new Shelter Cove addition that all kinds of festivals and events planned by the Towne Centre, Island Recreation Center and the community will be held throughout the year.
